This is my Axel wig. My baby! My pride and joy! My greatest accomplishment to date. This wig took about 14 hours and about half of that was hand sewing a widows peak. Let me do my best to explain it step by step, using the pictures above. If you have any questions, dont hesitate to ask.
Also, to check out more of this cosplay, go to [link] Step One: As you can see here, this is what I started with to create the widows peak. The tools that you see before you are loose strands of artificial red hair fiber cut to 14 inches, loose strands of artificial black hair fiber cut to 8 inches, a square of wedding veil mesh picked to match my skin tone, a Styrofoam block to use as a stand, and a sewing needle. To begin my massive project of doom, I first went to draw out the shape for the widows peak on the mesh with black eye liner. I made sure to check it against the wig hair line to make sure it would fit. Then I took the red hair fibers, about ten or so, and ran them threw the eye of the sewing needle. From there, I would run the needle through a hole in the mesh to about the half way point. Then I would tie a single knot in the middle of the threads of hair, leaving approximate two tail of 7 inch hair. Tedious? Yes! Eye straining? YES! Step Two: I continued this process until every single hole, or as close to it, was fill with red hair, giving me a nice solid outline to form the hairline of my widow's peak. That "V" alone took me three hours. From there I repeated the same process with the black until I had a full row behind the red. From there, it was just a simple process of thread, knot, repeat while alternating full lines of red and black hair till the sketched outline was full. The farther away from the front line of hair that you go, the less worried you have to be about filling in all the holes with hair. Step Three: With the widows peak done and completely filled in, we can now go to focus attaching it the actual wig. This is the original with that I used before I put the widows peak in. Kind of scruffy looking aint it? But watch the magic unfold. Step Four: This is the underside of the completed widows peak. Here you can notice what I was attempting to explain in steps one and two. Yes... those are all individual, hand tied knots. Am I insane... after this little project I can say with full confidence... yes. Yes I am. Anywho... looking at the picture you can also she where and how I stitched it into the hair line of the original wig. Look for the yellow string and follow the dashes. You want to try and make sure there isnt any space between the wig and the widows peak. Step Five: Tada!! This is what the wig looks like with the widows peak sewn in and the hair steamed back. Amazing isnt it? The transformation is just awe inspiring. Isn't it beautiful? At this point in the process I was giddy to see that all that hard work was already starting to pay off. Step Six: Here is where we actually start to get down to business and style the damn thing. Working with only two spikes at a time, I would measure out the length I wanted, trim the tips to get an nice spike, then coat with Got To Be Glued and dried it with a hair dryer on low until it could weakly hold the shape and position I wanted. With the spike now placed, I would attack it with Got To Be Blasting Spray, repeating the same process with the hair dryer. Once the spike didnt move, I would carefully hang the wig at and angle that allowed the spike to hang straight down and coat with more Blasting Spray. This allows to the spike to fully harden working with the power of gravity, not against it. Trust me, doing this will help prevent your spikes from drooping. Step Seven: Repeat the process above until you are done styling your wig. Step Eight: The finished project in action. I have never been more proud of anything in my life. The end result turned out better then I hoped and even though I wanted to kill myself making the widows peak, it was well worth it in the end. Many people even think that this is my real hair, believe it or not. Wig Stats: Total time was about 12 to 14 hours. The widows peak alone was about 6 hours. Used about one full can of Blasting Glue by Got 2 Be. Spike total is about 28. Length of wig from tip of nose to tip of longest spike is 18 inches. Distance between tip of tallest spike to tip of lowest spike is 26 inches. |

The doctor told me that I have to sit down when I pee, because I shouldn't do any heavy lifting.
I hate het. It's so not gay.
And show me this Rex-Dart of which you speak.

Again, thank you... and that Axel really is good. Sadly, I will never be that awesome of an Axel because even if I was anorexic and never ate a day in my life, I could never be that skinny. Its just not in my bone structure and lets not forget my boobs. I can hide them pretty well but they are big and still there. Oh well. I like to think I still look pretty damn good... even if I am short and stocky.
